Right to the Streets Joy Diversion walk of Trafford
August 30, 2023 @ 11:00 am - 3:00 pm BST
Joy Diversion is a family-friendly day of exploring, mapping and meandering being run by ODM as part of Right to the Streets.
Starting by exploring maps of the area from 100-plus years ago, we’ll propose expeditions to uncharted territories, taking strange routes or any other diversions that people fancy. Adventurers are split into parties and encouraged to map, photograph, document and bring back their findings to share with everyone.
Bound by rivers and canals, north Trafford is an area that sees tens-of-thousands of people arrive to visit its two international sporting venues, but it’s also place with a strong sense of community, a rich history and cultural significance.
Whether you’re new to the area or you’re a life-long local, let us go out and find what’s out here, discover forgotten spaces, create stories and map our city.
You will need:
· Yourself
· Comfortable walking shoes or what ever you need to get around
· Weather0appropriate clothing (we suggest bringing your waterproofs just in case!)
· A phone with a camera would be advantageous
· We recommend bringing some lunch, but there’s plenty of places to grab something
Joy Diversion is free, family-friendly and everybody is welcome. For more information on what to expect, read this short blog from a previous session.
